Teaching
Courses, workshops, and mentoring.
I have taught at three universities in Canada and the United States, as an instructor and as a teaching assistant for phonetics and phonology courses.
Instructor
- Fall 2026 How Language Works: Introduction to Linguistic Theory (LING 201). University of Massachusetts Amherst. A fully online, asynchronous course that introduces linguistics through data from many languages.
- Winter 2021 Introduction to Linguistics (LING 1100), co-instructor. Memorial University of Newfoundland. Taught as part of the university’s Teaching Skills Enhancement Program. I ran class sessions as problem-solving workshops in which small groups analyzed data from unfamiliar languages and presented their analyses.

Mentoring
At UMass, I mentored Waleed Ibrahim, an undergraduate who annotated speech recordings in Praat for my study of geminates, now published in Glossa. In Morocco, Oumaima Tasra, an undergraduate, helped me build the Moroccan Arabic Plurals Corpus. I also advise MA and PhD students in Morocco on graduate school and current methods in the field.
Training
